Plant your tulips in autumn and you will be rewarded in the spring with the most stunning long lasting blooms!

Tulips are a perennial flower. Most modern tulip cultivars bloom well for three to five years. The growing season for tulips is short, so be sure to plant your bulbs at the right time, a few weeks before the first hard winter frost to give the roots ample time to establish themselves in the soil. Do not disturb the bulbs after planting, as tulips require a chilling stage to produce flowers in the spring.  Tulips are an extremely robust flower, so after they are planted, and roots have established themselves in the soil, tulips can withstand extreme freezing and will be just fine once spring comes. They do not need to be covered with protective plastic during the winter.
